Taking the kids glamping is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all and reconnect. In fact, take the cousins, aunts, nan and uncle too! Let’s face it, we all need to spend more time outdoors, more time away from our desks, phones and other distractions and get back to enjoying the simpler things in life. Including time with family.
If you enjoy the outdoors, then our ‘wild glamping’ style is probably just right for your family. We provide you with just the right amount of convenience to our wild setting. Your trip will feel like an adventure with all the perks of a hotel room. Your beautiful bell tent will be set up, ready, and waiting for your family glamping adventure. You will have a full kit provided and even a bag of logs to get your campfire going. The only thing you’ll need to bring is your bedding and food for your stay (better yet, check out the local farm shops).
If this is all new to you but you want to take a step towards camping, then it couldn’t be easier. No daunting worry of which tent to buy. No scary dark compost loos. You don’t even have to pack up the car with everything but the kitchen sink. It honestly couldn’t be easier.
The adventure part comes from being out of your comfort zone and out in the wilderness. Our woodland is off grid, this means there is no power. On your family glamping adventure you’ll need torches, candles and firelight to see by. Your oven will be the campfire you’ve bravely built up yourselves. Nothing tastes better than campfire food, no sleep is sounder than that in a tent and no alarm clock beats the magical dawn chorus. This does all mean that some things can take a little longer than usual, but what else have you got to do? That’s the joy of family glamping, life slows down and you can take pleasure in the things that are usually mundane. Check out our outdoor bucket showers and you’ll see just what I mean.
The kids will no longer have their eyes glued to the TV, tablets and smart phones (and neither will you). They’ll marvel at the bugs they find, they’ll wave at the Bluebell steam train as it chugs past. They’ll probably even ask you to show them how to build a campfire (find help here). You’ll reconnect.
Why Wild Boar Wood?
At Wild Boar Wood we have nine bell tents set within five acres of private woodland. It is the is perfect set up for family glamping trips, with noone but our lovely glampers around. The old steam trains of the Bluebell Railway chug past and toot their horns as the woodland birds flit from tree to tree. In Spring, bluebells carpet the woodland and the campsite starts to come alive. Take one secluded bell tent with your children, or take more with the extended family. Why not hire the campsite exclusively for your gathering and enjoy the peace and tranquility all to yourselves.
Just because you’re in an off grid woodland doesn’t mean we don’t have great facilities. We have flushing toilets and hot water bucket showers. Water points are scattered around the campsite and there is a fire pit for each bell tent. We also have two covered communal firepits, so if you’re on a large family glamping trip then you can all cook and socialise together. The campsite is car free (great for letting the kids roam) but we provide wheelbarrows to get all of your kit from the car to the tent.
Why wouldn’t you? Family glamping is pretty magical at Wild Boar Wood, but don’t just take our word for it, check out our reviews on tripadvisor.
