Sheep arrive to graze the camping meadow

Just like last year we are hosting to Owenas small flock of Shetland sheep, who will be grazing the camping areas over the winter. There are 18 of them and they are a mixed bag of colours, one even has spectacles around its eyes.

Trees repaired around the campsite

At this time of year I try to sort out any trees that have died or, more likely, that have been run into by a camper during the night. I do this prior to the sheep arriving in November to graze the camping meadow over the winter.

This morning when I arrived at the office, I saw a very young, baby grass snake slithering across the campsite car park and thought i should rescue it before one of our local Jays popped down for breakfast.

Apple harvest and pressing

This weekend we picked a large batch of apples from around the campsite and then fought off the wasps to press them into apple juice which the girls sold through the Secret Teapot cafe at reception.

Mysterious adder murder at the campsite

This morning our guests in the gridshell awoke to the horror of a dead adder on the path leading to the shower block. The poor creature had been decapitated and then had its innards pulled out from its body.
