Campfire Cooking

At our Sussex glamping and camping sites we encourage campfires. Of course, one of the great joys of campfires is campfire cooking and eating alfresco. Burgers and sausages are probably the most obvious choice for a campfire meal, but there’s a lot more you could try.

Dutch Oven Recipes

Easy Campfire Recipes

Dutch ovens are cast iron pots that are placed directly in the coals of the campfire. They are great for one pot meals like chillis and stews but you can even bake bread in them too! Our Top 10 dutch oven recipes will surely inspire a bit of the campsite chef in you. Don’t worry if you don’t have a dutch oven, we hire them out at both Beech Estate and Wild Boar Wood Campsites.

For some of the more classic options like jacket potatoes, pasta or bananas and chocolate take a look at our Easy Campfire Recipes. There is sure to be something in the list that you feel up to. For vegetarian campfire recipes, we have you covered here. Just because you don’t eat the classic burger and sausage BBQ doesn’t mean you should miss out! If you’re not sure on what to cook on the campfire for breakfast here are our Campfire Breakfast Recipes.

Sometimes you just want a light lunch, or a snack to keep the kids occupied. Here are some of our ideas for great campfire snacks and light lunches (spider dogs will keep the kids entertained for hours).

If you have space for dessert after all your snacks and amazing campfire food then we’ve thought of that too. For inspiration for campfire desserts, just click here!

We’ve also sourced some more camping cooking inspo from a host of other sites and posted it all on our Camping Recipe Ideas page.

From keeping it simple to showing some campfire cooking flair, you’re sure to love the flavours that come from cooking on an open fire.
